Sports and Women who LOVE the Game…

In my opinion, there is nothing sexier to a man than meeting a sharp and yet entertaining woman who knows the game. She appears and pulls out a bar stool in a local pub or at an airport bar and starts shooting the shit about sports. She actually knows what she’s talking about. Does this catch a man off guard? You bet it does. Many women look pretty and play the role well but how many actually know the sport and the players? My guess actually is quite a few. I believe that the women who know the game love it for a reason.

Growing up outside of Cleveland, Ohio- I grew up in a dominating household and family full of mostly men and their love for the game. At holiday gatherings at my grandparents the family divided; you were either a Browns or a Steeler fan. It got pretty intense! I was one of the only girls in my neighborhood amongst mostly all boys that knew the difference between a football and a basketball, so it was either sink or swim with the guys and although it seemed like a curse at the time, it taught me some valuable lessons leading me then a few years later to meeting the man I would one day marry who taught me everything else I’d ever need to know about sports and then some.

While most girls my age as a youth were playing Barbies, I was sitting in front of the television patiently anticipating to see who would win the Heisman Trophy Award. You have to have passion for the game, and I did. I grew up outside of Cleveland Ohio and attended all the Browns home games as my father always had tickets. There were days that we froze our asses off in that stadium with the winds blowing off of Lake Eric but the thrill of being there amongst such well know athletes and professionals made me forget all about how cold my feet really were.

I grew up and although I stayed girlie, I still loved sports. Some things just don’t change. I enjoyed the Cleveland Browns, the Indians, Notre Dame, MSU, Cleveland Cavaliers, Detroit Lions, The Colts, Miami Dolphins, The Astros, The Spurs, Rockets, Houston Texans, Grand Rapids Griffins, Grand Rapids Rampage. My personal favorite…the Detroit Pistons; I spent many of games as a season ticket holder watching the Bad Boys rock the house. Those were to days…and what memorable games and play offs! Final 4 games, NBA Playoffs, Golf, Hockey, Indy and Nascar regardless of the sport, I loved them all. Whether it was a Super Bowl or the Fiesta Bowl, the frenzy built as the game got underway. You’re never too old to learn to love the sport. My daughter works in sports marketing for a company in Brooklyn, NY and because of her, along with my nephews who play the game, I am now learning about Lacrosse. Where ever I’ve lived, I found a game to attend. I’ve even made a few friends in the sporting world that play professional ball. Whether it was college ball or pro, I had a fancy for it.

My children live in Manhattan and sure does feel like my second home. I love NYC so I am thrilled to cheer for their locals as if I too were an abiding part of this beautiful city that they now call their permanent home. Regardless of where I’ve lived, or in what city I visit, I always enjoy the events. Does it get any better than this? Sure it does, because now I do something else that I also love, something else that is my passion- I sell panties and lingerie. I remind women that regardless of their shape, size or weight, they are as sexy.  Boosting women’s confidence and feeling that sense of achievement is almost as great as intercepting the ball and rushing for a touchdown. Yes, some girls can eat their cake and have it too!

Why is it though that a lot of men don’t think that a woman can understand and love a sport? A while back, I walked into a pub at an airport, pulled out a bar stool and ordered myself a cocktail. Honestly I meet more men and athletes in airports. I sat quietly minding my own business as two men next to me sat yapping about sports and as I sat  and listened, (ok, yes eavesdropping)…I couldn’t help but join in to their conversation. You see, their conversation was about the Heisman Trophy winners. They swore up one side and down the other that Earl Campbell won in 1976. Ohhh so close but soooo wrong. That’s when I tapped one of the gentleman on the shoulder and said “Excuse me sir, you’re both wrong!” They looked at me and laughed. They were so sure that they were right and I was dead wrong that I suggested to them that they put their money where their mouth was, as I reached in my handbag, slapped down a hundred-dollar bill, raised my eyebrow, and said, “Are you sure boys?” Needless to say that was the easiest $200 I  made. Everyone knows that Tony Dorsett won in 1976 and that Earl Campbell won in 1977.

The moral of the story here is; please, don’t judge a book by its cover. Don’t assume that because a woman looks classy and is dressed sexy that she hasn’t a clue about sports because just as you think this, a woman will walk into a room, just as I did and prove you wrong. It’s not a curse, in all honesty, men are flattered to meet a woman who can talk sports. I enjoy the game, with my heart and soul, I always have. I love the trivia, and can sing the Heisman winners like singing the A,B,Cs. You see, men love women who are sexy, but when they meet a woman who can carry a conversation with them regarding the game, you’re instantly in an entire different ball park!

Does Sex Sell?

Oh you better believe it…Sex sells! Advertising and sex have been tied together since advertising became a big business. The use of sexually suggestive images to sell just about everything really emphasizes the point that sex is a merchandiser’s best friend. One doesn’t walk into this type of business with blinders on. Being a woman in today’s society and feeling confident with who we are screams sex appeal to most men I know. It’s a sense of feeling like you can do anything and knowing that what you are wearing underneath your clothes gives you that sexy edge.

Sex is used to sell all sorts of products. Would you agree that sex really sells… best? I am a little bit bias due to the fact that I own a few lingerie shops myself, but in all reality, sex does sell….no matter how you slice it, it just does!

For the consumer, it makes sense to use sex to sell lingerie, men’s and women’s cologne/perfumes, even liquor, but what about using sex to sell some of these other products? Lingerie is a leading seller in the market today. Sex sells claims the old and undeniably true adage. We are sexual beings. Advertisers use this attribute by trying to associate their products and services with sexy imagery hoping that some of the hotness gets attached to their brand in the consumer’s subconscious mind.

However abusing your audience’s attention is a dangerous thing. Another thing to be cautious about is how much nudity is sufficient to grab eyeballs and what is too much thus considered offending. This is of course a cultural question. Usually the more religious your target market the less accepted it is to show bare body parts. For these reasons one needs to be careful where and how to use sex in advertising.

To a degree, fashion brands are going with the flow of a 24/7 media landscape in which the limits of what images are deemed acceptable are constantly being tested and expanded. While we are playing a role in communicating suggestive, if sometimes playful, sexually infused messages, brands and retailers are generally reluctant to discuss the impact of what they are doing. Now the brand is less important because of the dialogue that exists between consumers, and what makes a brand cool is what this new culture defines. Today, it’s social media, the conversation. You can’t understand your consumer if you do not have a dialogue. You don’t need much dialogue to discuss or describe sex. Lingerie suggests being provocative, sassy, saucy and spicy.

What Is Foreplay?

If you were to ask me what is foreplay? My response would be something like this;

It is said that with human sexual behavior, foreplay is a set of intimate psychological and physical acts between two or more people, meant to build up sexual arousal. Foreplay takes place in preparation for sexual intercourse or another act meant to bring about mutual sexual gratification or orgasm. Isn’t that about how you would sum it up? I pondered that statement for a bit and while thinking about it, I opened an email from someone who shared with me what it is that he desires in a woman. He said to me today; “Foreplay does not start in the bedroom. It is in the way a woman’s hand is taken to walk down the steps, the pleasure that she gets knowing you will open a door for her, or pull out her chair. For the longest time, foreplay was considered to be something that a man had to do to get his partner ready for sexual intercourse. Do Nice Girls Finish Last?

When you are a nice girl, everyone loves you because you take care of everyone else. You are alluring, and have an exquisite way with words, your style is appealing, you are everyone’s friend, your sense of humor is like that of no other and your mentality level is off the charts. What’s wrong with that? Absolutely NOTHING, so don’t change who you are for a minute! You have the positive outgoing demeanor, you have that ‘conquer the world’ type attitude, you put everyone else first before yourself, and you are a giver. Your presence is your mannerism, you know your true value, and you have a high level of sincerity and integrity.

Have you ever wondered why nice girls have a hard time getting  the men they want? When does being nice become a turn off to men? What is it  about nice girls that make guys run for the hills? My findings are that guys are turned on by nice  girls but they are just as easily turned off by certain things that they do. Maybe women are too independent and men feel the need to be the power force in a relationship? Men love to come to the rescue like Superman and save the day. Guess what? In today’s society, we women are very independent and we are Superwoman, or Supermom. We take control of our own destiny. Times have changed and we no longer are the type of women that our mothers and grandmothers were. We can actually stand on our own two feet quite well. If something breaks we fix it. If someone hurts us we bounce back.

Is there a down fall to being this way (nice)? There is absolutely nothing wrong with being nice. The problem comes up when you’re just  too nice because it makes you an easy target to get dumped, walked on or mistreated. Most men that I know of enjoy the thrill of the chase. Nice women lay their cards on the table and make it real easy to read what they want and how they feel. This is why some men are more drawn to girls who are more apt to say what is on their mind even  when it’s the complete opposite of what their men think.The one thing with nice girls that turn guys off is they cease to be a  challenge. Sad, but in this day and age it is true. I guess being a bad ass bitch who will walk all over them is what they desire more? Perhaps this is why they go through relationships after relationships that only last a short time yet there is never no true commitment?

My guess is that they are dealing with some of their own inner demons and can’t be happy with a nice girl because we get boring after a while. Some men like the rush, the excitement and everything that goes with it. Have you ever heard a man say “It’s not you, its me”? He may be saying that but what he really means is “It’s not me, its you”. Chances are good that when it comes to commitment, the problem is you.  I know that’s a tough pill to swallow. You may feel you do everything right and you are an awesome girlfriend. You probably are an awesome girlfriend but that is not necessarily what triggers those deeper feelings in a man. The things you are doing to be a great girlfriend could very well be the things that keep him from committing. You’re too nice!

Although guys like girls who are nice, there’s such a thing as being too   nice. If you’re too nice that becomes a difficult thing to live up to. A guy may  feel that he has to be almost perfect to be good enough.The other problem with being too nice is that, as a woman, you may feel that   this means you always have to go along with whatever he says or whatever he  wants to do. You don’t want to argue or rock the boat in any way. Although your heart is in the right place this can old, pretty fast for a  guy. He’d rather have some teasing and lively debates. He wants a companion;  someone who knows her own mind, not a yes woman.

Share Responsibilities in Communication

Even though guys like to get their own way most of the time, and they may always think that they are right, believe it or not, they don’t  want that all the time.If you don’t change, there will  come a point where his frustration will boil over and you’ll be left wondering  what went wrong because you were always so accommodating. This is a big reason  why nice girls finish last. We are the peace maker, the silent partner and the one who thinks before she speaks, and the one who listens, and the one who can read between the lines better than you think. Relationships are not one sided. It takes two to make them work. If the foundation is not set properly it will fail. Talking about it and being honest will help you to understand what went wrong, why you aren’t the one for him, or vica versa, and you’ll feel better knowing that you were open about it.

If You’re Too Easy Going… STOP!

As a nice girl it has for so long been said that you may not want to make waves, take my advice…make them! MAKE BIG WAVES! Stand your ground and be YOU because you can’t let a guy walk  all over you. Get angry once in awhile and speak about why you’re upset. If you just  accept whatever he does without saying anything, he’ll only keep doing it. Then  you’ll be left stewing in silence with your blood boiling over.So if he’s supposed to take you out, or call, and he doesn’t do it, let him  have it. Otherwise, he’ll use you, knowing that you’ll let it go. And guess  what? Things will only get worse. Some men however find that nice woman are just that, super sweet, loving, good looking and kind…sometimes that’s still not enough. Cut your loses.You deserve someone who is in it to win it, and by winning it I mean your love and affection whole heartily. Never settle for less ladies, there is someone out there just waiting for a nice woman like you, so don’t give up and don’t think for a minute that a month from now he won’t be kicking himself for a bad decision based on how his penis thinks and not his real head.

Can you see now why nice girls finish last so often? If you can, that’s great  but what are you going to do about it? Remember, you can be nice without being  one of those nice girls who can’t keep the guy.
I listen to men talk over and over about what they want in relationship and physical attraction. Chemistry I say is important but communication is key just the same. The problems lies within, most men are far from perfect and have their own insecurities and bad habits but they all want the dream girl. What does this dream gal do? Well, she inspires a man to want to be with her, spend time with her, respect her, possibly take her to forever. She does this with a feminine grace that is hard for a man to resist. She is fun, playful, has boundaries and does not badger or nag to get what she needs out of a relationship. Fellas, you are in la-la land if you think that this dream girl is going to love you more than someone with all of the other rare qualities I mentioned above. If you want a fantasy girl, by a blow up doll. She’ll be everything you want her to be.

Personally, I LOVE a man who can pull off wearing a pink tie, especially if he is humble enough to wear it just for me. Many men would say ‘hell no’ but I hope that the man who gets to know me will say ‘hell yes’ if he knows that it will make me happy! Pink is a great confidence color,  and is very striking!   I agree any man who doesn’t feel he can pull it off,  isn’t a real man inside and out. Did you know that 9 out of 10 women don’t like a men wearing pink shirts, and that only 1 out of 10 would actually wear one for a woman if she asked? Where is my one in a million man who would wear this pink tie for me with no questions asked? Find me this man and I will be a very content woman.

Color studies done over the years indicate that the favorite colors of men and women do differ in many ways. When the husband is emotionally cold or distant, or spends most of his time at work, yes the old’ workaholic, the wife may become frustrated that she does not seem to be of any importance. Guys if this sounds like you, it’s time to make some changes, otherwise you may be in for some bigger problems on the home front.  In order to obtain what she needs to feel wanted, she may choose to begin an affair. Even if the affair is purely physical, she has the full attention of a man for at least the amount of time they are together.

As beautiful and artsy as they are, tattoos are permanent. People get tattoos for a variety of reason…none that I can really figure out because I dislike them (for me, but please don’t take it personal)…and besides that I cringe when I see needles. The only time I ever welcomed a needle or two needles was during my painful hours of childbirth with my two children and believe me when I tell you that the big needle on the end of that epidural was well worth the prick and few minutes of pain!

Let’s look at a few examples shall we of who and why people might get a tattoo? So, you’re 17 and rebellious and your parents tell you that you are forbidden to get a tattoo…what do you do? You get one anyways and hide it hoping that they never see it or at least not until you are out of the house or away at school…but then later in life you may not like it so much because it was something that you thought you could get away with and did, now the thrill is gone. The other case scenario is that your husband hates tramp stamps (as they are called) he forbids you to get one and then you split up/divorce and you can’t run to the tattoo parlor fast enough to get one just to piss him off…is this sounding familiar to anyone ladies?

What happens after you get older or just don’t like that tattoo any longer, and this can go for men too, it’s not just about the women getting the stamp. What happens then,…what happens when you begin to age and wrinkle and that tattoo starts sagging? Then what? How do you remove it if you later in life you come to hate it? Well, I have found some cosmetic surgeries that might interest you. Since I have no tattoos I couldn’t tell you if these measurement to remove them work, and I am not an expertise tattoo artist.

There are actually two types of cosmetic tattoo surgeries: the removal of a tattoo and the application of a tattoo. Both procedures are considered cosmetic in nature and surgical as far as procedural aspects are concerned. Generally speaking, many youthful recipients of tattoos may not enjoy the process – let’s face it, it hurts – yet do like the result. Sporting a new tattoo is like a ticket stub signifying that you have paid the entrance fee into the “cool cult.” You are no longer considered a “square” but are now hip, cool, and with it. This feeling usually lasts until the first real job interview when your highly visible facial or arm tattoo costs you a high paying job, simply because the hiring manager does not feel that your appearance is congruent with the image the company seeks to project. Additionally, when youths grow older and they get ready to settle down, marry, and raise children, a tattoo suddenly makes some feel very uncomfortable in their new roles. Pool parties suddenly become embarrassing occasions, and volunteering in the child’s classroom may be done under the disapproving eye of a teacher. For some adults, tattoos may also remind them of times and episodes in their lives best forgotten because of the pain they may hold. For those who now regret the dermal artwork received in times of exuberant youth, there is hope!

With the help of a laser, tattoos may be successfully removed or significantly faded. This treatment is not speedy, however. Due to swelling of the skin, treatments must be spaced six to eight weeks apart, and quite often a number of treatments are required before success is achieved. Four to eight sessions under the laser are not unusual, depending on the color and type of ink that was used in the creation of the tattoo. Interestingly, extremely dark tattoos, those made with black or blue ink, fade the quickest. Red is another color that will fade very quickly. The colors green and yellow, however, take a long time to eradicate and may require additional treatments to truly get rid of. Of course, it is important to note that there is no guarantee of complete fading, and sometimes very close scrutiny of the previously tattooed area will reveal a very faint imprint of portions of the removed tattoo.

The other kind of cosmetic tattoo surgery that is available today is actually the application of permanent ink in a controlled manner that will allow women to have the look of a beautifully made up face when they first wake up in the morning, and without any expenditure of effort! Permanent makeup is now a common procedure that produces stunning looking results with just a few sessions at the doctor’s office. The application of this technology is truly plentiful: lips may be lined for higher definition or even full lip coloring may be applied; eyeliner on the top and bottom of the eye lids can be applied as well as eyelash enhancements; the eyebrows may be colored to have that perfectly defined look; some women even enjoy the application of permanent beauty marks!

Of course, just like with a regular tattoo, the drawback to this application is the fact that it is permanent. Be certain that you not only like the shades of colors you have chosen, but that they also enhance your appearance! A trained cosmetologist will be able to provide valuable guidance when it comes to color and shade selection. Additionally, remembering that this make up is permanent, consider the applications you are choosing. Pouting lips may look cute on a twenty year old girl, but on a forty year old woman they might look at little out of place. Similarly, a dashing green shade of eyeliner may be stunning for an evening on the town, but it may seem inappropriate for the day job as a bank teller. The other danger of this kind of cosmetic tattoo surgery is the fact that if you visit an inexperienced practitioner simply because the rates are so much less expensive, your permanent makeup may look somewhat less than natural. Additionally, inexperience can lead to mistakes which can have far-reaching consequences, especially when they occur around the eye area. Thus, you truly receive what you pay for!
